For many veterans, cutting the red tape to get the medical assistance they need can be quite burdensome. This was the case with Darlene Behr, an Army veteran who needed assistance filing a disability claim for her knee. Darlene reached out to her local VA, but when she never received any follow-up, a friend referred her to Panhandle Warrior Partnership (PWP).
Darlene contacted PWP Case Coordinator Kenneth Thompson and expressed her frustration with the process. Thompson assessed the situation and entered Darlene into the WarriorServe® system, a database that helps streamline veteran information and coordinate services between partner organizations. After collecting Darlene’s information, Thompson reached out to her local VSO to get her disability process initiated. When Thompson next contacted Darlene, she told him she had spoken to her VSO and scheduled an appointment to begin her claims process. She was incredibly grateful for Thompson’s assistance, noting that she couldn’t believe how quickly he could get this process started for her.
“I am thankful for Panhandle Warrior Partnership reaching out to guide me to the folks that could help with all the red tape that is involved with this endeavor. Another soldier has been helped.” – Darlene Behr, Army Veteran
Thompson followed up with Darlene after her appointment and was happy to hear that she was able to get her 40% disability rating to 70%. We are always happy to serve warriors like Darlene and support them in getting the assistance they so truly deserve.
