Florida Veteran Receives Disability Support After Defeating Claim Denial

For many veterans, receiving their earned health benefits can be a complex and challenging journey. In the midst of defeat, a flicker of hope emerged for Air Force veteran (’08-’15) Robert Paulson* when he learned about Panhandle Warrior Partnership (PWP) while searching the internet for resources.

Mr. Paulson first completed a self-referral stating that he was rated at 70% disability for his Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS). Recently, Mr. Paulson filed a claim with the VA for Total Disability Individual Unemployability (TDIU) due to his struggles, but was denied. Following the denial he tried getting in touch with his local Veteran Service Organizations (VSO), but was having a difficult time getting in touch with anyone.

"It was all hard to navigate and I could really use some help. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed and defeated after being denied this time." – Robert Paulson, Air Force Veteran

After speaking with Robert, PWP Case Coordinator Kenneth Thompson wasted no time in linking him with his high-ranking VFW contact to start another claim. After working with Case Coordinator Thompson and the local partner, Mr. Paulson was able to get his rating increased to 100%. Mr. Paulson stated that he is still rated at 70% but is getting paid at 100% due to his other disabilities. Mr. Paulson was incredibly grateful for the support he received and thanked Mr. Thompson for all of the help in getting an increase in his disability.
